If you want to go fast and do it on a well built, comfortable boat - take a look at the J80. The J80 has a huge, roomy cockpit and is set up so that the crew is able to perform all of the sail-handling functions from there. Nice wide coamings and lifelines make for comfortable hiking and a great place to sit while cruising. Sailing World magazine rated J/80 as easier to handle, less intimidating, safer and better suited for sailing offshore than other modern sportboats tested.

The J80 is capable of high speed sailing with planing speeds recorded approaching 20 knots downwind. The design of the J80 allows these speeds to be easily reached without straight leg/trapeze hiking or any of the other contortions required with other sportboats. This well constructed boat is the only sportboat ocean certified for Design Category B of the EU Recreational Craft Directive, which states that the J80 design can withstand waves that are 13 feet high with winds to 41 knots. Not conditions that you would want to sail in - but isn't it nice knowing that your boat is built to a standard that could withstand those kind of conditions?

Don't you think it's time to join the nearly 1,200 other owners worldwide who are discovering how well the J/80 fits their plans for sailing fun? J/80 is the only sportboat that combines simplicity of operation, confidence building stability and 15 knot spinnaker rides in an affordable, low maintenance and trailerable package. It even has 4 berths and a 12 foot long cockpit. It's ideal for day sailing, easily handled by one person, with room in the cockpit for 6.

You can try one out or refine your skills with expert instruction, prior to delivery of your own boat, at a J World Sailing School in Annapolis, San Diego, San Francisco, Stockholm or Xiamen.

JBoats Southwest has delivered approximately 50 J80s over the last twelve years. The Southern Circuit remains active, and though cyclical, there seems to be new enthusiasm starting with the fall of 2008 and culminating in 2009 with the J80 Worlds hosted in Newport, Rhode Island. The 2008 Worlds in Spain consisted of 130 boats on the line as the J80 popularity in Europe continues to rise.

JBoats Southwest can offer a basic boat or complete turnkey J80 Regatta packages. With boats located throughout lakes in the southwest we encourage you to let us arrange a ride for you at your convenience. Check out the video links, especially the video showing the J80 at 19.6 knots. The crew looks relaxed! - Just out for a Sunday sail!
