Selling Your Boat?

What are the benefits of listing your boat with JBoats Southwest?

Visibility: We subscribe and use the YachtWorld listing service. Over 80% of the boat dealers world wide use the Yacht World multiple listing service. We will list your boat on our YachtWorld site and on our JboatsSouthwest site. We will occasionally run adds in print publications. We also use Twitter and Facebook for information and to direct traffic to our website. High visibility leads to high traffic, resulting in finding the right buyer and maximizing the sales price, while reducing the sales time.

Staging/Preparation: We will work with you to ensure that your boat will make a great first impression. Recommended repairs, what to remove, what to keep aboard, and what to clean. It is imperative that your boat be in tip top mechanical condition and be clean and appealing with no dirt or foul odors. We also recommend a “sellers survey”. This level of survey will highlight any potential issues that will need to be addressed before showing the boat. A clean survey used in the sales process can boost a potential buyers confidence in pursuing the purchase of your boat. The old adage of “You only have one chance to make a first impression” applies here.

Showing: We can show and sea trial your boat with you, or on our own. We will keep you informed of interest and boat traffic, and will qualify all prospects prior to showing the boat. We will represent your boat honestly and work hard for you to make sure the prospect understands the value of your boat.

Negotiation: We will provide you with actual sold prices for boats like yours. From this data you can set your selling price. We will negotiate on your behalf and provide our best efforts to maximize the price obtained for your boat. You will get the final say on all offers tendered.

Closing: We will serve as the intermediary between the surveyor, financial institution, shipper, boat yard, and any other people involved in completing the sale. Closing activities typically consist of a sea trial, verification of boat inventory, marine survey, and possible haul out and preparation for shipment. In addition we will hold the funds in escrow for payoff to help both parties feel secure in the transaction. Typically the escrow funds are a 10% deposit from the buyer so that you know the buyer is a legitimate candidate.

“Scott sold my boat in a matter of weeks for the asking price. He kept me informed of the process and what was needed to complete the transaction. He also followed through to make sure the paperwork was in order, and that I received payment upon closing. I couldn’t be happier with the experience”.
-Valerie Cohen-J80

JBoatsSouthwest was instrumental in finding a buyer for my J/80 in no time flat, and sold her for a very fair price.”
