More and more Yacht Clubs are adding creative events to their calendars, such as DCYC's innovative "Sweetheart Course" for Valentines Day, Texoma Sailing Club's "Season Pass" and "Free Family Fun Flotillas". Several clubs are adopting the "One Day Regatta" concept. We hope you make plans to get out there and sail! On a J/Boat of Course!

J/111 Finishes 1st Place at Key West Race Week!

Kontiki V - a brand spanking new J/111 was launched in time to participate in Key West Race Week - And Finished First!

Proud new owner with his new ride? Nope! Sail Magazine sponsored a contest called the "Best Around the Buoys" (BAB). The winning crew would be allowed to step aboard this boat and race her in the PHRF 1 class at KWRW.

The competition would be stiff with a J/124, J/109, 1D35, Grand Soleil 37, and a modified Beneteau First 44.7. The light air week was a real test, but never the less, the BAB winners, Jim Sminchak and his team were able to put together enough consistently high finishes to take home the 1st place trophy! Regatta and General Interest News!

And They Made Us Proud
with Their Great Showing!

Glenn Darden had a spectacular regatta - Successfully defending his 2010 1st place result! 5 First places, 3 2nds, and 1 throw out to give him a commanding lead over 2nd place - Next year, team LeTigre has a chance to "Threepeat"!

Tiamo with Bruno Pasquinelli at the helm ended up with a 7th place overall - their best races being a couple of 4ths and a 2nd.

Team Andale! grabbed a 2nd in the the 5th race and a 4th in the 6th race and ended up 9th overall! Fantastic!

The J/105 class keeps getting more and more competitive. Throw in beds of seaweed, lobster pots, and other obstacles and Team Solaris was slow getting out of the gate. They kept their spirits up and with their positive attitude, and a little gris-gris (good luck-New Orleans style) they kept battling back with a top race of a 2nd, and 3 other 4th places, Team Solaris took 6th overall, out of a tough 15 boat fleet!

Gambler Powerplay chartered by Peter Cunningham was in the thick of things in IRC2! Racing for positions 3 - 6 was close with only 5 points between 3rd and 6th. Doug Shaffer leased Gambler to Peter Cunningham for the regatta.

Former J/Boat sailor Jim Hightower had a great regatta finishing 4th with this "Hot Ticket".

Austin YC's annual Red Eye Regatta New Years Day was dominated by J/Boats!
With 33% of the 43 entries being J/Boats!

14 of the top half of the fleet were J/Boats:
1st - J/80 Lickety Split-Greg Buck winning the overall
2nd - J/29 Mostly Harmless - Ray Shull
3rd - J/80 #1319 Claude Welles
4th - J/80 490 Brent Schwan
5th - Hobie 33 - Henson
6th - J/29 Imagine - Romberg
7th - J/22 #1235-J. JHalter
8th - J/22 #629-Linda McDavitt
9th - J/80 "The Great Escape" Juan Penelas
10th - (out of 43) was Bruce McFarland - first time out in his new J/80 "Infinity"

GBCA is off and running with their pursuit style races!

John and Claudia Bartlett took delivery of their new J/80-#1320! - Their 2nd J/80!

This makes 9 J/80's at AYC!

As the local Quantum Sails representative, John will have this boat powered up and going fast!

Bruce McFarland purchased the well known and fast J/80 - Infinity from Uzi Ozeri!

An added benefit is that Uzi and Bruce have formed a great friendship! Bruce and Valerie are really off to a great start with their J/80.

John Tyrone is taking the J/92 "Ya Mon" to Florida where she will be used for cruising and the occasional race. She's a great boat and I'm looking forward to hearing about the fun that John and Melanie Barbiea have with her!

Web activity and inquiries are steadily going up. Looks like people are starting to go beyond thinking about sailing and are taking the plunge! We do need additional brokerage boats to list.
